Whether it be a jacket, special pair of pants or even the simplest t-shirt, it’s evident that clothing has a special kind of armor that’s unique to each wearer. It can be confidence. It can be strength. It can be seduction. Either way, clothes make us feel a certain way. oqLiq wanted to capture this feeling with its latest collection for the Fall/Winter 2023 season.
Unveiled during Taipei Fashion Week, the “Aura Protection” themed collection served as an exhibition of garments’ invisible shields. The collection came to be with a fusion of technical and utilitarian style notes. From water-resistant to moisture-wicking properties the focus on performing fabrics opted for a collection that centers on style and functionality. Black shell jackets came in several constructions while pieces like dresses were reenvisioned to handle several environments.
What stood out about the collection’s usage of ripstop and technical fabrics was that design elements remained exceptionally contemporary. Tailoring remained a key design point through structured trousers, free-flowing top overlays, draped skirts and asymmetrical cuts. A highlight of the tailoring-focused pieces is a deep midnight blue textured suit with a minimally paneled blazer and slim-fit matching pants with zipper detailing. Although the collection largely came to life via dark shades, subtle pops of rust, burgundy, gray, light olive and ocean blue made their way into the collection.
